Lightroom Classic 15.2 graphics memory leak

LightRoom Classic 15.2 build: 202602111402-ec4112e8

Only this release has a fast memory leak in the graphics card memory (Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB).  It  uses up almost all the memory just exporting 8 files to Tif to be edited in PTGUI Pro that also uses graphics memory and crashes repeatedly until exiting LRC, and that fixes the problem.

However it is not efficient to have to close LR every time I export files to either Photoshop or PTgui Pro.

Lightroom Classic 15.2
build: 202602111402-ec4112e8

MS Win 11 Pro
v: 10.0.26200 Build 26200
x-64 based PC
ASUS motherboard Proart z790-creator wifi
96GB memory

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB

C: drive has 495 GB free.

Lightroom database and photo collection on 2 other drives has always run smoothly.

Kind regards from Hans

@hans christian LRCC user , @Fremen9  As mentioned several tims here provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Lightroom menu item Help > System Info.

Without these information all proposed solutions are a look into the crystal ball.

    My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 5 - Topaz Photo

Sorry! Here is the system info file for you. I tried removing check mark for using GPU when exporting files - it made no difference.

@AxelMatt In IT there is a rule:

Whatever the customer is paying for - we will develop and literally nothing is impossible these days.

When Adobe tests a new release, best practice is to turn on logging “everywhere” and react to those logs and the automatically running test results with change requests. Changes are then implemented.

    Repeat.

When an acceptable level of defects, being classified as “cosmetic” has been reached - - then the logging is turned off for performance reasons. “Nothing is free”. Hopefully Adobe runs an automatic performance test then.

And you are right: PC’s are different in small ways and Adobe cannot keep on testing. However. And I will let everybody reading this “connect the dots”:

Release 15.2 of LRC (on my machine and a host of similar machines) keeps on munching up GPU memory until it eventually freezes. DavinciResolveStudio, the Topaz suite, Photoshop, PTGUI pro panorama stitcher run fine on their own.

BUT running any program like Topaz and PFGUI Pro that also uses GPU memory to speed up transactions - AT THE SAME TIME AS LRC - that combination results in these programs freezing too.

    The next dots to connect:

LRC v 15.1.1 is almost stable, but not quite - it gobbles GPU but does not freeze.

LRC v 15.1 is completely stable and willingly releases GPU memory so I can export files for processing in Topaz and PTguiPro without having to exit LRC.

I simply do not need your opinion on whether this issue belongs to me or Adobe.

I am the customer. I pay for support and I get nothing.

Your main avenue of development these days is to link up to Ai companies and charge for tokens to process images there.

Your company is milking their cash cow without the possibility of logs because the information from logs would put the ball in Adobe’s court.

Your strategy is apparently to put the ball in my court and I am deeply disappointed about this zero-level of support.

Just to remind ourselves: why did “everybody” choose Amazon? EXCELLENT customer service.

TEMU understands this and I have had excellent customer service from them too.

ADOBE has chosen NOT to use the Windows event logging system.

ADOBE could easily give us a script to execute, that would turn on logging so we could all get some data and support could have something to work with.

Instead ADOBE prefers that the customers try to figure out workarounds for half baked SW.

    Done. Go back 2 versions.

So answer this: why am I paying every month for Photoshop & Lightroom to be updated to versions I cannot run on my excellent PC on a mid-tier ASUS Creator MB?

Your SW says my NVIDIA Card is fully compatible, so???????????????????

I have the same video card, the 4060 with 16gb and I noticed lightroom classic is using way too much RAM and killing my system.  I have to close lightroom classic when my entire computer slows down because all the RAM is used.
I checked the version of lightroom classic and its 15.2
I’m going to try downgrading to 15.1 to see if the problem goes away.

    Hi, thanks for reaching out!

Please try the steps suggested AxelMatt and if that doesn’t work, share the system info as requested by johnrellis and AxelMatt.

    You can also check: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

    Thanks,

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver.

Please make also sure that you have installed the Studio version and not the Game Ready version of your NVidia driver.

Provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Lightroom menu item Help > System Info.

    I did already try a re-install - no difference.

Windows 11, version 25H2 Successfully installed on ‎05-‎10-‎2025
I am going to re-install version 15.1.1 - I have already spent 2 hrs on this today, so enough is enough. The CUDA setting in the NVIDIA Control panel should make LR default to system memory (98GB) if overusing GPU mem, however it does not stop LRC from hogging mem at the expense of other prgms. This only happened in v 15.2, so rolling back to 15.1.1 and I will let you know, how that goes. It looks incredibly slow doing the rollback. Cheers!
