Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 disables Intel Arc 140V GPU, while Camera Raw 18.6 on same machine reports full acceleration same machine detects the same GPU and reports full acceleration.
Problem summary:
Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 consistently disables GPU acceleration on my HP OmniBook Ultra Flip with Intel Arc 140V graphics, even though Photoshop / Adobe Camera Raw 18.6 on the exact same machine detects the same GPU and reports full acceleration.
This causes Lightroom Classic AI Denoise / Super Resolution to fall back heavily to CPU and run dramatically slower.
System:
- HP OmniBook Ultra Flip
- Intel Core Ultra 9 288V

Your system automatically supports full acceleration.
AI Denoise on the same Sony ARW files completes in approximately 20 seconds in Camera Raw.
On another laptop with an NVIDIA RTX 4060, Lightroom Classic performs AI Denoise on the same class of RAW files in under approximately 15 seconds and correctly registers GPU usage.
This strongly suggests the issue is not the RAW files, catalog, Windows installation, or Adobe AI Denoise itself.
Troubleshooting already completed:
- Updated Lightroom Classic to latest available version
- Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom Classic
- Tested Lightroom Classic 15.4.1, 15.5, and 15.5.1
- Tested Intel drivers 8974, 8993, and 9030
- Used DDU in Safe Mode for a full Intel graphics-driver cleanup
- Reinstalled Intel Arc graphics driver cleanly
- Deleted/rebuilt Camera Raw GPU configuration files
- Checked for TempDisableGPU2 / TempDisableGPU3 files — none present
- Forced Lightroom to High Performance GPU in Windows Graphics settings
- Checked Device Manager for additional/virtual display adapters
- Only Intel Arc 140V appears under Display adapters
- Checked for third-party indirect/virtual display drivers — none found
- Tested regular Lightroom desktop app — GPU acceleration also disabled there
- Moved Lightroom Classic catalog out of OneDrive to a local path
- Rebuilt damaged local sync database
- Confirmed Photoshop itself recognizes and enables the Arc 140V
- Confirmed Camera Raw 18.6 recognizes and fully accelerates the Arc 140V
Current Lightroom catalog path:
C:\Users\miker\Lightroom Catalog\Lightroom Catalog.lrcatExpected behavior:
Lightroom Classic should recognize and enable the Intel Arc 140V GPU, consistent with Adobe Camera Raw 18.6 on the same system.
Actual behavior:
Lightroom Classic detects the Arc 140V but reports:
Init State: GPU disconnected
GPUDeviceEnabled: falseand AI tasks fall back to CPU.
Most important comparison:
Same machine, same GPU, same graphics driver:
Adobe Camera Raw 18.6:
Full GPU acceleration
Denoise ~20 seconds
Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 / Internal Camera Raw 18.5.1:
GPU disconnected
GPUDeviceEnabled: false
Denoise dramatically slowerRequest:
Please investigate whether Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 / internal Camera Raw 18.5.1 has an Intel Arc 140V GPU initialization or compatibility issue that is resolved in Camera Raw 18.6.
I can provide full Lightroom Classic System Info, GPU logs, screenshots, or additional diagnostic files if needed.
