Problem:

I use a 16-inch roll of Epson Premium Semigloss paper and normally print 40 × 60 cm photographs from Lightroom Classic.

This workflow worked previously.

With the Epson SC-P900 driver selected in Lightroom Classic, when I open Page Setup / start a print, the printer feeds/ejects the roll and displays:

“Paper out in Rear Paper Feeder. Load paper and touch OK. User-Defined / Plain / Bright White.”

The printer is actually correctly loaded with roll paper.

The important point is that the same printer, same roll paper and same Mac work correctly when using AirPrint.

I also tested the Epson driver outside Lightroom using the macOS test page. The printer again tries to use the Rear Paper Feeder instead of the Roll Paper Unit.

However, Epson Print Layout works correctly with the same Epson driver, printer and roll paper. In Epson Print Layout I can explicitly select:

Paper Size: 406.4 × 609.6 mm
Paper Source: Roll Paper
Media Type: Epson Premium Semigloss

and the printer correctly prints the 40 × 60 cm image.

This suggests that the printer, roll paper, firmware and Epson driver are functioning correctly, but that Lightroom/macOS is sending or retaining the wrong paper-source information when using the normal Lightroom Print module.

Expected behavior:

Lightroom should send the print job to the Epson SC-P900 using the selected Roll Paper source.

Actual behavior:

The printer receives a command for the Rear Paper Feeder, resulting in a paper-out error and the roll being ejected.

I have already removed and re-added the printer and reinstalled the Epson driver. The problem remains.

Workaround:

Epson Print Layout works correctly, so I can currently print through the Lightroom → Epson Print Layout workflow.

Could Adobe please investigate whether Lightroom Classic 15.5 / macOS Tahoe 26.6.x is incorrectly passing the paper-source setting to the Epson driver?

Update – September 25, 2026:
I have now updated to the latest available versions, including macOS 27 and Epson printer driver 13.50. The problem remains unchanged. Lightroom Classic's normal Print module still sends the Epson SC-P900 to the wrong paper source / Rear Paper Feeder and the roll is ejected.

Epson Print Layout, using the same printer and the same Epson driver, continues to work correctly with Roll Paper and produces the 40 × 60 cm print.

This rules out the previous Epson driver version and macOS Tahoe 26.6.x as the sole cause. The issue appears specifically related to Lightroom Classic's Print module communicating with the Epson driver/paper-source settings.

I haven’t tried that. But other settings, most importantly Color Sync, work correctly from PS but not (usually) in LR.

You don’t give details of what you’re seeing that’s going wrong. If the primary issue is that the Color Sync option doesn’t stay set, there have been many reports about that with Epson printers over the past two years. While there have been numerous magic spells posted, none have been confirmed to work for more than a couple of people. Adobe has not acknowledged this as a bug in LR.

Mac Tahoe und Printer Epson SC-P600 über LrC ist auf keine Art und Weise Finartprint mehr möglich. Durckerteriber wird immer irgend wie übersteuert. Endloses Installieren und Deinstallieren. Eingriffe in Library etc. Wahrscheinlich wir der Treiber nicht ganz geladen, denn Print einer PDF aus Ablage mit Vorschau zeigt alle benötigen Optionen im Druckertreiber an (ColorSync oder Epson, Farbe SW etc.) . Danke für den Tipp. Version 13.26 installiert anstatt der neuesten 14er-Treiberversion.

I’m running a printing workshop and had to setup a group of mac and windows computers to print on my Epson P900. The printer is using the latest firmware. All the Tahoe computers failed, everything else passed, here is what happened.

For each computer, we went to the Epson support page and downloaded the driver for their operating system. None of the computers had connected to the P900 before, so there were no old drivers present. Most of the Mac computers were running Tahoe 26.6.1 or 26.6.2, some were on Sequoia, PC’s were on Win11.

We ran the driver installers without issue. For all the Mac’s, we removed the AirPrint printers and added the Epson versions all went well.

We opened the Print module in Lightroom and started to setup a print. As soon as I selected Page Setup and chose the Epson P900, something was sent to the printer and it started operating. The printer raises an error on its screen asking for the roll paper adapter to be added. The error can be cleared down and the printer settles down.

We then finish setting up the print layout, paper size and source selections, media type etc and finally press print. Nothing happens. There is a job in the print queue but the printer doesn't print. I tried powering off the printer and re-starting to no avail.

Every one of the Tahoe computers does exactly the same. The sequoia Macs and PC’s work as expected.

I saw someone post something very similar but there was no resolution. Can anyone help?

Possible Workaround for Fine Art Printing Issues with Adobe Lightroom on macOS Tahoe

I experienced what appears to be exactly the same frustrating issues with my Fine Art photo printer under macOS Tahoe.

After spending countless hours cleaning up the Library, removing and reinstalling printer drivers, and trying various installations and uninstalls, I eventually gave up trying to restore my usual printing workflow directly from Adobe Lightroom.

However, I have now found a working solution: Epson's "Epson Print Layout" application.

Installing the app and, in particular, integrating it into Adobe Lightroom is a little tricky, but it can be done with some patience.

I can now use Lightroom's Export function (TIFF) to select "Epson Print Layout" and send my images directly to the Epson application.

From there, Fine Art printing works perfectly again. Paper types, print settings, and all the other essential parameters are once again available and can be adjusted as needed.

For me, this is currently a reliable alternative to my previous printing workflow.

Perhaps this workaround will help others experiencing similar problems – at least until the printing issues under macOS Tahoe are resolved.

I've also attached three screenshots to illustrate the workflow.

In the Print Module, I select a paper profile and make a print. If I move back to another module like Library or Develop to select/change a photo and then return to the Print Module, it has forgotten the paper profile and I must re-select it. It used to remember the profile in much earlier versions. I have 15.5 of LrC running on Win 11. I know 15.4 had this bug and I was hoping that you had fixed it.

I have seen something similar when the Print driver dialog has anything other than “Default Settings” selected for Presets. It seems that the preset will always override the settings you choose.
