Lightroom Classic 5.2 problems after Computer crash

After reinstallation of Lightroom I have been unable to get re-updated to the latest version and it seems that Adobe has lost any information of my registration of the software. Mostly the software seems to work as before but it seems to have one MAJOR PROBLEM. IT LOSES THE ENTERED KEY WORD DATABASE INFO. Needless to say this is a MAJOR PROBLEM!

I have had a few time when closing the program I get the following message.

lightroom.exe - Application Error

The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x00007FFE6902AE22

Click om OK to terminate the program

It seems exception # 0x0000015 is always the same but the location number changes Example another location # is 0x00007FFD42C4AE22

The loss of the Keywords doesn't seem to be directly related to these messages though. I have checked a few time by reloading the Lightroom App immediately after getting the messages and after powering down and back on and the Keywords are still there.

I have been retired a few years and can't justify upgradimg to the latest versions. I also do NOT like having to rent instead of buying software. Is there no way to get the latest version of the classic that I had before the crash? I am even unable to get what my re-installed program says is avaliable from the HELP UPDATE tab. When I try I get the following message

5.7

Current Version  5.2 (Build 922700)

5.7 was the Version I had before the computer crash, The 5.2 version is the original version I bought and updated every time updates were avaliable.

IS there no way to get my software back up to the orginal standard??

Did you open the previous Lr 5 catalog file? Or did you import the photos into a new Lr 5 catalog? (or both?)

Since the crash I have changed my operation, I am now putting the catalog
on external drives with the catalog addressing photos on that drive. This
seems to have reduced the problem but not eliminated it completely. As for
the original import after the crash it would have been the original catalog
which appeared to be fully intact to begin with. If I remember correctly it
was a few months before the problem showed up. It has now happened a number
of times both on catalogs in the main computer drive and catalogs on
external drives. The initial restoration of the catalog was from the
internal drive with a second restoration from the backup external drive
after the first loss of data. Both seemed to be correct initially but had
loss of data after some use. I have started backing up every time I close
the program which seems to be a partial solution to the problem. Most of
the time if I load the backup file I have only lost the latest editions to
the key words.
I understand that software this old is not still supported with new
programming but I DO NOT understand why Adobe does not keep access
available to the latest version of that series of the software. It seems to
me all you would have to do is have the update file still available on the
internet for many years or offer a hardcopy version available on thumb
drive that the customer could purchase.
I guess I will have to get serious about learning my ON1 App but I will
sorely miss Lightroom.

Thanks for any help you can give with this problem.

Hi, we're trying to help you, but you have to help us as well. I asked the following question:

"Did you open the previous Lr 5 catalog file? Or did you import the photos into a new Lr 5 catalog? (or both?)"

and I expected a simple clear answer, "I opened the previous catalog file" or "I imported the photos" (or possibly the answer is both), not 1000 words. What is the answer to my question? I didn't even try to read your long response.

From your post I take it that are using the 2013-2014 version of Lightroom 5.

There is no support from Adobe for this version that has long past 'end of life'.

You may still be able to download the installer for v5.7 from- https://prodesigntools.com/lightroom-5-ddl-comparison-vs-lr4.html   You will require your Serial Number Registration Keys.

The loss of Keywords is most likely a problem with the catalog, or v5.7 is not compatible with new versions of Windows released. Very difficult to suggest an answer.  Try a new catalog as a test to see if it maintains keywords.
