Question

Lightroom Classic

I installed Lightroom classic on a new computer but most of the keywords were missing. I was able to recover users/name/lightroom and install on the new computer. I reverted back to the previous catalogue and now all the keywords are showing up. However when I move any photo into develop I get the following message: "The file could not be found". Is there any way to reconnect this catalogue?

many thanks

You clearly did not move the catalog and photos properly. Here's how to move Lightroom to a new computer, it may be an idea to simply do this again: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/

Please state, step by step, leaving nothing out, what you did.

Also, I have specific questions for you. Did you move the photos to the new computer? Did you import photos into a new catalog? Or did you copy the catalog file to the new computer and open that catalog file?

Are there question mark icons on the folders? Are there exclamation point icons on the photos?

Thank you for responding. When I set up my new desktop (windows 11) I installed all my photos in "My Picturers" and downloaded Lightroom Classic. I then imported all photos from "My PIctures" into Lightroom which then set up a new catalogue but many of the keywords were missing/incomplete. Then I had to reinstall Windows as a result of an unrelated issue and reinstall my pictures and lightroom. I then opened a previous catalogue which I had been using on my previous computer.  A full list of keywords is now showing but as already indicated when I try to open all photos in develop it says the file cannot be found. There are no question or exclamation marks on the photos. I have clearly done something wrong - is it possible to rescue the situation I.e keep the keywords and open photos in develop. All my photos are still in "My Pictures".  Your further thoughts would be much appreciated as I am struggling with this. Should I have reimported my pictures into lightroom after the Windows restart . Can I simply do that now and keep the existing catalogue with all my keywords.

@Roy ShoplandPlease unmark your message as the correct answer. It doesn't solve the problem, it describes the problem. I believe the message by @JohanElzenga is the correct answer.
