Lightroom classic became unworkably slow

Hi
I'm a full time photographer working with lightroom for the past 18yrs.
Since recently, I guess after the last update, lightroom became unworkably slow.
It's slow when going to the next photo in the develop module. Sometimes I have to wait +7 seconds before I can even see the next photo.

I optimized my catalog.
I have enough diskspace

Here are my system settings:

Make sure that Sync with the cloud is off while you edit; Make sure that address lookup and face detection are also paused.

If you are a person who never uses these features, do not say "I never use them". This is not what I am asking you to do. I am asking you to MAKE SURE / VERIFY  these features have not been turned on accidentally.

That can't be it, I never use them.

Haha :D, no I checked but they're not turned on by mistake. Thanks for the input.
Turning of writing the XMP's looks like it has improved the speed.. Now I just have to remember to always update the xmp's manually when i'm ready with a shoot..

To help us better understand the issue and help others: Have you been applying Denoise to more than a few photos?

1. Have you enabled the option Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP?

2. Have you applied Denoise to more than a few images?

1: yes, this has been the case for many years.
2: Not on the specific images that take a long time to load but some images in my catalogue will have the Denoise yes..

@driesr3059280, try disabling Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP. There's a nasty bug introduced in LR 14.4 when used with Denoise that causes long delays moving to new images:

That may not be the cause of your issue, if you haven't used Denoise on many images, but it's quick to try.
