Well I dissabled the GPU and it happened less frequetly, however not with the latest update to LR  classic 8.3.1 it is everytime I try to use it it freezes my computer. .  It doesn't happen with any other program including Premire. In premire I edit 4K with many different heavy editing tools. It performs flawlessly. Why is Lightroom giving so many problems?  I have updated my OS, my GPU drivers, everything I can think of.

Premiere and LR use the graphics drivers in much different ways, so it's not suprising that there could be different behavior.

As a next step, you could post details of your situation on the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom Classic | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Be sure to copy all lines from Help > System Info into your post.

Sorry for the delay. I've just returned from a shoot in Vietnam so I am now putting the turning of graphic card to the test. I'll let you know.

    Thank you for the responses.

Carefully work through all of the steps exactly as described in this help article, even if you've tried something similar before: Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ . Note that Adobe recommends a "clean installation" of graphics drivers, which is more involved than simply installing the latest version.

Freezing the whole computer always either is a bad driver (re-install the video and motherboard drivers) or a hardware malfunction in your computer. If it usually happens during exporting, then it is possible the cooling system in your computer has malfunctioned, causing the computer to overheat.

It started with the initial install of version 8 and it has continued through the current 8.2.1

Do you have tried the deactivation of the GPU support?

Another try is to reset the Lightroom preferences

Which version of Lightroom do you have installed? Please post the exact version and not phrases as "latest version" or "actual version".

Please try switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.
