Lightroom Classic Catalog Chaos

After many attempts  at trying to make V15 work, I joined those who reverted to V14 and have enjoyed some success, until yesterday when about half, or more, of the catalog simply didn't show up. After some aborative effort to use the Find Missing File, etc., I gave up and proceeded to import the missing folders and files. That process was going smoothly until about 20% into the project the entire catlog decided to reappear. Happy that the parocess is complete, but I would like to understand what happened to the folderd/files...why did they dissappear and why did they reappear?

That sounds really annoying and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Can I ask a couple of questions to help us figure out what happened?

I've posted a number of times here about my problems with v15 and v5.01. It installed allright, several times before giving up on it. Basically, the program in all areas was so slow to be useless - WOULD NOT WORK! 10 min. to load, the same to open a file to edit, etc.,etc., etc. I tried pretty much everything mentiond here and nothing worked. Might not be using the correct terminolgy but I used a selection like "Find missing file," and got the strangest results. One time a group of empty video files appeared. My files, catalog, and catslog backup are located on Drive: D, a relatively fast HHD. I know, I know, I know...not a good arrangement. But, OI changed from using C drive several months ago because it was simply too small. (Am in the process of adding an SSD in the near-term to take care of that. Need to point at thogh, that my current arrangement was working just fine until I first installed v15!!! Shsould mention that I also installed a Win 11 update the same day as v15. I would really like to understand why more than half of my catalog simply dissappeared, and why while I was in the process of installing the missing files way mores tan half of those (te missing files) also simply appeared without any acton of my part. To install these files I used the Import function.

 

Lookinf frward to hearing from you, the last tiome I provided information to someone from Adobe I never heard anything.

Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for sharing the detailed information. We’ve just released version 15.1, and I recommend updating to this latest version to see if it improves the behavior. Before updating, please take a full screenshot from version 14 showing the catalog name and the total number of images. Once that’s done, update to version 15.1 (released today), import the same catalog, and then take another screenshot showing the catalog name and image count again. This will help us verify whether the catalog content remains consistent after the update. Please share both screenshots here so we can review them further and continue investigating the issue with you.
