Lightroom Classic catalogue has removed all my edits

After exporting a gallery on my Mac to an external hard drive. I returned to LC and all my edits and history have been removed from the catalogue. When I launched the catalogue it said there was an issue and to fix.

However this has not fixed the issue and all my edits have now gone along with the history.

    Also, please show us a screen capture of the History Panel in the Develop Module of one photo that displays this problem.

    We need some basic information. 

    Please state the exact version NUMBER of your Lightroom Classic. Please state the exact version NUMBER of your operating system. We need the version NUMBERs and not words like "latest" or "up-to-date".

    We also need much more clarity about your problem.

    The word “gallery” does not correspond to anything in LrC. What did you actually do? Please tell us step-by-step, leaving nothing out. What was the exact complete word-for-word error message? Are you sure your launched the same catalog?
