Question

Lightroom Classic CC Crashes constantly from the beginning

It's an overnight problem. Yesterday (8.7.2018) Lightroom crashes direct after double clicking the icon.

I tried several issues, restart the computer, uninstall Lightroom and re-install it, rename the catalog, so Lightroom has to build a new one, delete the cache ...

Nothing fixed the problem.

My Computer I7, Windows 10 64 bit, 32 GB main memory and this configuration worked until yesterday

HI

I am having the same issue... I updated LIghtroom Classic CC yesterday through Adobe's Creative Cloud Program. It worked initially but now it continually tries to open LR in the Develop module and then crashes. Each time I have sent the crash report to Adobe.

I have tried renaming the preview folder, and opening a different catalogue, but no joy. Please can you help.

I am running Windows 10 64-bit

thank you

i recently had this same issue. tried every solution avaivalbe, reinstall, cleared cache, new temp admin user, new cat etc. Finally i solved the issue by renaming my preview folder, causing lightroom to generate a new one, then did an over night rebuild of previews. turn out two images was lost - possible moved and one was corrupt, luckily i had backup of said image. Only conclusion i can draw from this is that some how where the preview had been corrupted. since then ive had no issues with lightroom

Hi there,

the problem is solved.

Finally i added another SSD to my system, install a clean Windows 10 on it, also install Lightroom and Photoshop - Voila, the system runs fine, now i can switch between the two windows 10 systems.

Thanks for all, who tried to help

I am having the same issue, when I remove my external hard drive, with the photos, it doesn't crash, but I need to plug that in for the photos??? what to do?????

Problem with external hard drive? Possible hard drive going out, could also be the cable between external hard drive and computer. Before buying a new drive try a new cable.

You could also run disk maintenance (like CHDISK) on the drive

Also, how is that external hard drive connected to the computer? Directly to a port on the computer, or thru a hub? If the latter try the former.

I have exactly the same problem.  If I log on as another user on my computer then LR works, but on my own user account (where all my images are) I repeatedly get this crash on startup.  The crash dump looks identical to the one posted here.  Can anyone help please!!!!  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR, manually turned off GPU usage via the prefs file, tried Safe Mode - always the same result.

You could try the cleaner tool though to completely remove the CC install.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

From there download Creative Cloud and install a completely fresh version from scratch.

Also crash

I have the same Problem, but it also occurs in InDesign, Bridge and Premiere.

Windows Eventmanager refers to a Problem with "imshelper.dll". I tried:

- Updates (CC-Apps, Windows, GPU) -> no help

- Resetting Preferences -> no help

- New LR-Catalog -> no help

- Uninstalling CC-Suite, using Adobe Cleaner-Tool, Reinstalling -> no help

Adobes Phone-Support told me to move temporarily to a local admin-account --> that DOES help!
But I just can't deal with moving everything to a new user account right now.

So - any Ideas? I have a ton of work to do and can't get anything done :\

Check that you don't need to update graphics drivers; The GPU integration can be the cause of immediate crash on start issues.

I updated to the newest graphic driver, but it still crashes.

Hi Wolfgangs,

We're sorry to hear about Lightroom crashing, could you please let us know which exact version of Lightroom Classic CC you're working on?

Also, could you please share the event viewer crash logs with us?

I also updated the graphics driver to the newest version, but the problem still exists.

By the way - Photoshop itself works fine.
