Hi @Jacqueline Porteous, Thanks for reaching out to the Lightroom Classic Community Forum! Let's try a few things and see if we can get your LrC running smoothly.

    1. Check for Lock Files: Ensure that no lock file exists for the catalog. If there is a lock file, quit Lightroom Classic and delete the lock file.

    1. Attempt to Open the Catalog: After deleting the lock file, restart Lightroom Classic and try to open the catalog again.

    2. Check Disk Space: Verify that there is sufficient disk space available on the machine. Lack of space can lead to issues with catalog access.

    3. System Restart: restart the computer and then attempt to open Lightroom Classic again.

    4. Reset Lightroom Classic Preferences: Please refer to this Helpx article for steps.  https://adobe.ly/3HsQXpA It is recommended to back up your catalog before resetting preferences. You may refer to this article for more information:  https://adobe.ly/4dW8vqF.

If none of these steps work, we can continue to troubleshoot the issue. I hope this helps! ^CH
