Lightroom Classic crash with MacBook Pro 2019 - new logic board installed crashes with adobe

I've had my computer taken in twice after randomly crashing, getting super hot- fans kick on automatically the first time they diagnosed a logic board failure. They then updated to 32gb where was 16gb under Apple warranty. Well now it crashes even faster, but passes every diagnostic test. It crashed and froze in the store as well and the repair Apple certified store now has to send to Apple to figure it out and I am not not understanding why it's mostly involving adobe. It has more then enough space, hardware is new. Frustrated I spend so much on the laptop and so much on my subscriptions. Anyone have this too?

Fans turning on and heat buildup are caused by cooling system failure somewhere. Heat builds up because you are using the CPU and/or GPU intensively and if the cooling system isn't working right, the heat continues to build up and then the computer crashes. Just like your car can overheat and it stops running. It has nothing to do with a failing logic board. Why doesn't Apple gurus know this? I don't know. But there are plenty of articles on the Internet about this. Here's one: https://www.macobserver.com/tips/how-to/fix-macbook-air-pro-fan-always-on/

Why is it mostly happening when LrC is used? Because LrC stresses the hardware more than other software, which causes heat buildup, and if the cooling system isn't working, then you get fans turning on and the computer feels hot. And then the computer gets too hot and the correct thing for the computer to do is shut down (which means the logic board is working properly).

Make sure all fans in the computer are spinning properly. You need to vaccuum out the case (if possible, for some laptops not possible) and vaccuum out the air vents on the case. You need to also make sure that the air vents are not blocked by furniture or walls. Try purchasing a laptop cooling device. And also follow all the suggestions at the article above.

Hey, @KloA. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share the system information from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

I couldn't fetch crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Where is the Lightroom Catalog & its support files stored on an internal or external drive? Is Lightroom Sync enabled?

To begin troubleshooting, test some variables like:

  • Unplug any external peripherals & use wired input devices.
  • Unplug external drives.
  • Temporarily, unplug extra displays & only keep one active at a time.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
