Lightroom Classic crashing on import (Branched from an existing old thread)

Hey-- I searched everwhere I could to find a solution to the problem of Lightroom freezinf as soon as I entered the Import pictures screen. I was temted to throw a house brick at me computer. 

TRrying older versions, going back to old restore points all useless

Finally uninstalling Lightroom completely--- Got rid of old catalogue files anf all that was listed in the options for un installing.

Reinstalled the program, had to recatalogue all my photos but the problem appears to have been solved.

I hop this helps someone out there.
