Question

Lightroom Classic Dehaze work only in small area with strange result

With update to LR-C 12.4 (please recognize in system parameters that I switched back to 12.3 to be able to keep working) the Dehaze Function behaves strange. There is a small amount in the middle of the image where a strange effect is to be seen. I provided two screendumps with min and max values of the slider. Please note that the image isn't edited but only to show effect better, otherwise it's for the bin 😉

Just my thoughts, Haze is an atmospheric phenomena as described in the attached screen capture.

The Dehaze feature in LrC is designed to correct this undesirable condition if it is present in a particular image. I would suggest that one should choose images that display this effect.

I rearly use Dehaze at the extreme settings as + or - 100 and work with + or - 15, as you will experience "wonky" effects.

I live in Trinidad and Tobago which is located in the Caribbean just off the coast of Venezula and at certain times experience the effects of Sahara dust that creates severe haze effects.

Example image +15 Dehaze, +100, -100.

The image is from my apartment, the mountains in the background are in Venezuela about 50 kilometers to the west.

Notice the Dehaze actually sifts the color tone towards Blue while reducing the Haze.

Can you also post a screenshot of how version 12.3 behaves on the same image? Do not attach them, but insert them in your post using this button . I see no issues with Dehaze in version 12.4 but I have not tried it with these extreme settings on such an extreme photo.

They are already deleted but I can tell you that dehaze works evenly across the whole image. I've attached a similiar example from 12.3 where you can see that it looks like it should.

Is this 12.3 or 12.4? I do not see this localized problem that the other image apparently had. Dehaze seems to work on the overall image here.
