lightroom classic freezes

Lightroom Classic lets me edit photos and move between the library and develop modules but when I click on a tab up top such as the File or Edit it completely freezes up the system forcing me to end task.. also freezes when zooming in on a photo.. i have plenty of storage left, windows and LRC are all up to date.. cant figure it out please help
