Question

Lightroom Classic hangs upon opening

Your help is greatly appreciated,

When I open Lightroom (and Photoshop for that matter) the catalog opens and I get the usual screen asking me to sign out of another computer - but the sign out screen is blank.  It acts like it is trying to proceed but there is nothing on the sign in window except the Adobe logo in the corner and a spinning icon in the center.  I have uninstalled all my Adobe products and Creative Cloud and reinstalled just LR and it doesn't change anything.  Logging out & in doesn't help.  Running as administrator doesn't help.  I have deleted the OOBC (?) folder and other folders as advised in my forum searches.  I even removed the Certificates through the Certificate Manager.  Please see the attached video for a look at what I am dealing with.

Thanks!

I am on Windows 10 and have 16GB of RAM and four 4Tb drives.  I have been running Lightroom for many years including the latest version 8.1 since it was released.  It is running on 5 other computers that are identical to this one just fine.  Only this computer has the blank sign in screen with the spinning circle.  Please help!

Only this computer

So it is something specific to "this computer".

My advice from experience (as another user- without expert knowledge) would be to-

1) Backup your catalog/s, presets, plugins, etc.

2) Run the {Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool} to un-install Lightroom, photoshop, etc.

3) Re-install the {Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App}   (Current version 4.8.1.435)

4) Re-install programs. (Current Lightroom Classic version 8.2  [1204643] )

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Still no resolution to this problem.  I was able to uninstall current versions of LR and PS and Reinstall LR 7.5 and PS 2018 and they work fine.  It just seems to affect the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom.

You might also want to go to Adobe.com, sign in, and choose to manage your account and see if anything is wrong.

Adobe.com account settings and sign in seems to be fine. Manage account reveals no problems.

That dialog window that you do not get to view could be Adobe complaining about not being signed in (this can occur if it has been long enough since the last time you were connected and signed in via the internet, or you have a license issue)

It doesn't make any difference whether I am signed in or not.  If I am signed out , it asks me to sign in which I do then it goes back to that same white clicking screen.

First off you are launching LR the hard way, note your LR icon on your desktop, drag it down to your task bar at the bottom, that will create a copy that you can simply single click on instead of your apparent struggles double clicking on that open button.

Second off, looks like you are inanvertantly starting multiple instances of Lr running due to your issue double clicking multiple times. Actually LR should not allow that, but $^!## happens.

Third off, in your Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app, sign out, then sign in, paying attention to any issues popping up. Like a account issue. Make sure that you are signed in before launching LR.

If that all fails, reboot the computer. In this case a cold boot as to flush out anything in RAM. Shut the OC down, wait for it to turn off, then turn it back on.

Also, an inquiry, your subscription, it is only installed on two computers, or less, correct? And it worked on this computer? And you have not renamed the computer, or reformatted the boot drive. Getting at license issues, that might show up in that dialog screen you do not get to view.

I don't usually launch LR with the CC icon.  It does the same thing (white screen) no matter what method I use.

The clicking that you are hearing is not me double clicking.  It is simply the white screen making the clicking sound on its own.  I am clicking the open icon once and that's it.

I have tried signing out and opening LR while signed out of Adobe.  I get the sign in screen and log in like usual but as soon as I am done it reverts back to that same white screen.  The video is showing what happens if I am already signed into Adobe.

If that all fails, reboot the computer. In this case a cold boot as to flush out anything in RAM. Shut the OC down, wait for it to turn off, then turn it back on.

I have rebooted and shut down the computer numerous times with the same result.

I have shut down all the other computers in the office to ensure that I am the only computer using the Adobe subscription.  I went to Adobe.com and ended all sessions manually as well.  Computer has not been renamed or reformatted.  I am able to sign in & out of my Adobe account just fine.

I am getting this same white clicking screen when opening up Photoshop 2019 as well.  Bridge works fine & Photoshop 2018 works fine as well.
