Lightroom Classic: Import Catalog & Export Folder to Catalog fails with unexpected error

I recently returned from a trip where I used my laptop to edit photos using Lightroom Classic.  Now I want to import that catalog into my main catalog on my desktop.  However, it keeps failing due to an Unexpected Error.  I am running V14.2 on Windows 11 with latest updates installed.

I have tried the following:

  1. Moved the files and the catalog from the laptop onto the desktop.
  2. Opened the catalog from the laptop and Updated the Folder Location to the new directory
  3. Checked for missing files.  None.
  4. Backed-up the database & error checked.  No problem.
  5. Tried importing the above catalog into the PC's catalog, but it fails with an unexpected error.
  6. Exported the folder as a catalog.  If I check "Export negative files" and "Include available previews", it fails.
  7. Exported the folder as a catalog with "Export negative files" and "Include available previews" unchecked, it completes.
  8. Tried importing the catalog created in step 7, but it also fails.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

I tried creating a new database and importing database created in step 7 of the OP, and that also failed.  This was done to see if the error was in my existing database on the desktop.

Hi @GeoffSchultz2! Welcome to the community!

What version of Lightroom Classic are you using? When you go to File > Import from Another Catalog, do you get an unexpected error? If so, could you please send a screenshot of the error dialog?

Thanks a bunch!
