Question

Lightroom Classic Installer not respecting non-standard folder locations

I recently updated Adobe Lightroom Classic and afterwards found that it had caused a folder name conflict in OneDrive which I use to backup and synchronise key folders in Windows.  Because I have multiple PCs using the same OneDrive account I have in some cases relocated key folders such as the Desktop folder. For example on my laptop this is now a folder called Desktop_LT01 to avoid clashing with the Desktop folder on my PC which has the standard Desktop name, which means that they can both coexist happily in OneDrive.

What I found was that after updating Lightroom Classic it had tried to add a shortcut to my desktop but instead of checking the correct location for this, it seems that it just made the assumption that it was called Desktop, and because there was no folder on my laptop called Desktop, it created one and put the shortcut in it. This then created a synchronisation error in OneDrive.

I am sure this sort of thing could be avoided by interrogating the system for these locations rather than just making assumptions, so would like to see this fixed as soon as possible.
