Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, and I’ve already ruled out most of the common causes.

Lightroom Classic 15.4.1

The problem:

When I use Photo > Edit In > Adobe Photoshop, the image opens in Photoshop, but all geometric adjustments made in Lightroom are missing.

Specifically:

Lens Corrections are not applied.

At this point, I think the most effective way to troubleshoot this is to share an edited original photo. That will narrow down whether the issue is directly related to the particular images or something specific to your installation:

1. Select the photo in Library and do the menu command Metadata > Save Metadata To File.

2. Do Photo > Show In Finder to open a Finder window with the photo selected.

3. Attach both the photo and its .xmp sidecar to your reply here. If the forum won't let you attach the file here, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the issue occurs in other installations and narrow it down from there.

I can’t reproduce that on my MacBook Pro M1 Max. Edit in Photoshop (same settings as you use) works exactly as it should. Upright corrections and lens corrections are maintained in the image when it arrives in Photoshop.

Technically, what happens when you send an image from Lightroom to Photoshop is that Lightroom does not render the image, but sends an instruction to Photoshop to open the image with all Lightroom adjustments applied to it. That means Photoshop uses Camera Raw to do this, but the Camera Raw dialog is suppressed because it would only contain settings you’ve already made in Lightroom anyway. Perhaps that script is corrupted on your computer. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop?

That’s interesting, because I can reproduce the issue consistently.

I’ve already tested multiple versions of both Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, and the behavior is always the same.

The problem is specifically with Edit In > Adobe Photoshop. If I export the image as a TIFF from Lightroom and then open that TIFF in Photoshop, all Lens Corrections and Transform/Upright adjustments are preserved correctly.

However, when using Edit In, those geometric adjustments are lost. Exposure, white balance and other Lightroom edits seem to transfer correctly, but Lens Corrections and Transform do not.

I have also confirmed that:

The issue happens with all lenses, not just one.
Lightroom correctly reports “Built-in Lens Profile applied.”
Camera Raw also recognizes the built-in lens profile.
My External Editing settings are TIFF, ProPhoto RGB, 16-bit.

I haven’t tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of Photoshop yet, but I have already tested older versions of both Lightroom and Photoshop with the same result.

Have you ever seen Camera Raw ignore only the geometric adjustments (Lens Corrections/Transform) while still applying all the other Lightroom edits? That is what makes this issue so unusual.

With all due respect, you are just repeating what you already said in your initial message. And I already said that I cannot reproduce that. No, I have never seen Camera Raw ignoring geometric adjustments while still applying all other Lightroom edits, that is why I suggested to uninstall/reinstall Photoshop. That might ‘refresh’ / replace the script that Lightroom uses and that might be corrupted. I have no other ideas.
