Question

Lightroom Classic not connecting to external hard rive

I have a newish mac book air and have always managed to connect an external harddrive successfully for Lightroom Classic. I recently bought  a new harddrive and now that, nor my previous two, connect in Lightroom, although I can access the photos in Finder. I can see the names of the harddrives in Lightoom but they are greyed out and nothing changes when I connect the harddrive. Any ideas? TIA

Apple changed the security requirements in MacOS Monterey and later. Go to MacOS 'System Settings - Security & Privacy' and add Lightroom Classic to "Full Disk Access". Click on the lock icon to unlock the settings (not needed in Ventura), then click on the plus icon to add Lightroom Classic if it isn't already listed. If it is listed, then just enable the checkbox (or the switch in Ventura). See also Quick Tips: How to give Full Disk Access to Lightroom Classic on macOS
