Question

Lightroom Classic only opens in background

When I try to open Lightroom Classic, it only opens as a background process in Windows.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled and have tried various other "solutions" on the web.  Anyone experiencing this same problem?  Have you found a solution?

Please see here: P: LrC 12.2.1 fails to start/launch or is extremel... - Adobe Community - 13673512

If this doesn't help please give us more informations about your system, including the following:

  • Adobe product and version number
  • Operating system and version number
  • The full text of any error message (s)
  • Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; the amount of RAM; etc

Maybe you can post your Photoshop system info. In Photoshop goto Help > System Info and hit the copy button. Then paste the entire informations into this thread. Thanks. The above info will help to solve your problem.

Do you have do a clean reinstallation? If no, Please follow the steps below:

If you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

You answered my questions, but not whether you followed the steps I suggested.

What have you tried of the steps in my former post?

Do you have take a look in the linked community post?

Using Windows File Explorer, bring up the folder your catalog is stored on, does a lock file exists? Can you share a screenshot of that?

@TrevorJC95733482 Please be more specific.

What's your excat problem?

Please give us more detailed informations about your environemt.

Did this ever work? If yes what has been changed on your system before the error occurd?

Which steps has you done to solve the problem?

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

If LR doesn't start correctly, type 'msinfo' into any OS search field, and then share the results here including the versions of the Adobe application that you're using.

BTW: It's even better to create a new thread with all detailed informations about your issue and your system, instead of reactivating an older posting.
