Question

Lightroom classic or switch to lightroom cc

I am currently running Lightroom classic.  I have built up a good amount of presets and brushes for adobe Lightroom classic.  Is there a benefit to upgrading to the new Lightroom program, or should I stay with the classic.  I am comfortable with classic. Would my presets,  brushes, and watermarks work in the new program. Currently I cannot get Lightroom classic to sync to Lightroom mobile on my devices.  Would this now happen if I switched to the new Lightroom.  Not sure what to do, any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance

Lr CC has very limited Folder | Album | Collections features (actually NO collections yet) and the world's worst sort feature(s).

Knowing the Lr CC limitations, I see no reason to use it tied to (synced with) Classic.

Exception: Last week I did a Senior Portrait shoot. 180 shots. Used Classic to put them in a collection then synced that to the cloud. Then I used my iPad to show the proofs to the student. She made her selections (21). I cropped them to 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10. Gave her a USB drive with three folders - 1 for each print aspect - and a link to a slide show on the web so she could show them off.

Here's the important part IMO. Shortly after I finished, my 'cloud' ecosystem had zero images in it - I removed them. I didn't need them there anymore so there is no reason to keep them there. 1 or 2 shoots worth of files synced would be OK. Massive libraries synced between Lr CC and Lr Classic is an invitation to a mess.

Poster her to this forum syncs 'years' worth of photos (200+ thousand) to the cloud. Reason given 'so he could work on them anywhere and show them using any device or computer'. Ya!  You bet!  He's going to 'show' or 'work on anywhere' a photo he took at a wedding in 2002 of the groom adjusting his tie.  Ya!

I have to add for those wanting to 'work on' photos on laptops, pads. phones and/or remote computes (Lr CC for Web).

I have a 27" 5k monitor CALIBRATED to it's own .icc profile. I use 6500 k (white) lights in this room with NO reflection off the screen.

My laptop, iPad, iPhone or some remote PC where I use Lr Web do not have calibrated monitors. WHY would I 'work' on photos using any system but my primary one? If I did, I'd just have to do it again on this system.

After watching this video I think I'll stay where I'm at. Would you have any idea why I can't sync my collections to Lightroom mobile now

1st - If you are unsure my advise is NO! Don't 'switch'.

Switching is not an option anyway. Lr CC and Lr Classic are 2 very different systems.

Adobe's intentions are that users pick 1 or the other - NOT both. These support forums are replete with posts from people trying to merge the two systems making a mess of both.

Lr CC is in only version 1.1 and is VERY limited relative to features. MOST of what you like about Lr Classic is NOT yet available in Lr CC.

Julieanne Kost of Adobe advises to use the one which best suits your photo workflow. NOT both!
