Lightroom Classic Slow Performance - Fixed (for me)
About 15 days or so ago I posted that after downloading and installing Lightroom Classic I found it's performance to be extremely slow on my Dual Xenon quad core Windows 10 Pro system. I was pretty frustrated as I wanted some of the new tools and have been resistant to going the Creative Cloud subscription route. (Still am to the latter as it only makes sense for Adobe, not its users.)
I've been up in Alaska for the past 10 days and notice superior performance on my Mac Airbook. Spent some time tonight gleaning from a variety of articles dealing with this issue and found that on my PC system my RAW Cache was set to a mere 5 GB which was adequate for LR6 work. I upped that setting to 25GB based upon the file size of my RAW files and the program sped right up surpassing what I was experiencing with LR6 (though I haven't tried that version with the new cache settings). I'm seeing my edits in real-time now and there is little if no lag moving between photos.
Hope this helps someone else. Wish Adobe would put out a written user manual instead of forcing us to go to third-party articles on the web.
Now it's off to see if other parts of the program will work as advertised....
