Lightroom Classic slows then stops on Windows 10

After perfroming the upgrade to LR Classic I have anything but good news to add to the forum. Sorry I just had to uninstall and go back to LR 2015 (opted not to unistall) I noticed a memory leak as the app was using more and more meomry (crap). Reading some of the troupble shoot tips I tried to run a reset. The factory reset for windows did not work, it opened the dialog to load a different catalog. That was my first real red flag.  So I did the manual way by removing the preference files for version 7 and restarted. Memory leak stopped!!  I then cleard the Camera RAW cache and increased it to 6.0 GB. Purge the video cache too. This allowed me to finish the import of 3700 RAW images and add the copyright information etc. I used the minimal import seclection as well as camera calibration. Took about an hour to import as it was coming from a NAS @ 1GB ehternet. About 50 developed images later it was taking 4 -5 sec to load the image. Stopped, went into purge cache again, restatredLR and ran another 60 before it slowed down again. Switched back to LR 2015 and imported same images and it took about the same to import however I did not have any slow downs.

Next I copied all the files to a local drive and reimported to the LR 2015 (after I removed the collection and deleted the images from the cat.) and of course it took about 10 min to load them all. So I tried to do the same with LR Classic with a new collection from a different drive ( I have sidecar files now from LR 2015) and the import stopped with 7 files. Perhaps that was my fault but there were no warning nothing to guide me. So I will wait for the update to retry.

Just want to know if anyon else has had this type of issue?

Version 7.01 update helped this situation in Windows 10. Now running 7.2 with zero issues. Thanks Adobe.

Hi carls,

We really aplogies for all the trouble caused you. Could you please share your system info by going in Lightroom Classic CC > help menu > System info. You can try fews things here to fix the slow performance issue with Lightroom Classic CC. Turn off the "Parallel View" and GPU from Lightroom preferences and restart Lightroom.

Open Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > You can turn off both the option from there > Restart Lightroom.

Regards,

Mohit
