Lightroom Classic stopped syncing - no error message

about 6 months ago Lrc Classic stopped syncing. Initially the Sync Activity dialog box showed a long list of file names with some reference to the metadata, but now the dialog box is empty and shows 0 uploading, 0 downloading, 0 pending, yet the little cloud icon with the blue circle arrows shows syncing 14,812 photos (and sync is not paused).

My mobile device (iPhone) shows Synced and Backed Up. If I load a photo unto the mobile LR it will sync up, but it does not show up in Lrc.

I am running Lrc 13.0.1 on MacOS 13.3.
