Lightroom Classic Stuck on Reading Preferences Everytime

Using Windows 11 and Lightroom Classic 15.1.1

I’ve had success deleting the Lcat files, but having to do that everytime is becoming a pain. I have also tried resetting preferences while launching Lightroom CC which doesn’t do anything in my scenario.

@Segoviah , @defaultrmhpq8m2xaot

Do you get error message(s)? If yes, please post the message word-by-word.

Try to restore the catalog form one of the latest backups.

You can also try to create a new catalog, import several images and check if it’s help.

Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog. Click on “Create a New Catalog...”.

If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

If this all doesn’t help, provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Lightroom menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Same issue here. Have reinstalled/rebooted/deleted preferences to no avail. Anybody have any luck with this yet?

I have exactly same problem. Solution for the issue is more than urgent. Paying a top price of this buggy piece of **** comes less meaningful every day.

That’s potentially a sign of a corrupted catalog. Try your most recent backup.

Hey, @GunnerZo0552Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I’ll help you figure this out.

Here is a primary step you can try:

Reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4fOPxm4

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I did all three of these and I’m still getting the same issue.

Check to see if your catalog is in a folder that is syncing with OneDrive?

If it is, then move the entire catalog folder to another folder that does not sync with OneDrive. Exit LR and make sure the sync is complete before moving anything.
(The sync status icons will show in Windows File Explorer)

Microsoft has been pushing OneDrive use and the default Lightroom catalog storage location is within the Pictures folder. This whole folder is by default synced to OneDrive if it has been enabled. It may be causing conflicts as OneDrive tries to sync the folder if it did not complete the sync when you last closed Lightroom? It would be more problematic with larger sized catalogs.

There was another recent post where the user had the same issue and they were using OneDrive. Their catalog opened once the sync completed before they started Lightroom.
