Lightroom Classic & Sync

Hi there! I’m reaching out because I’m stuck on a small issue that I can’t seem to resolve. I’ve been using Lightroom CC since the beginning of my photography journey, and I’ve been a huge fan since it’s cloud-based, allowing me to share and view photos from any device. As my photography business grew, I started using Lightroom Classic for larger volume jobs and to take advantage of the plug-ins available for my software. I want to maintain a seamless connection between the two programs. When I click the sync button in the top right corner of Classic, it syncs my entire Lightroom CC library to my current catalog in Classic and downloads all the cloud files onto my computer, resulting in a massive file size. I’m wondering how I can sync my catalog once I’m done with it so that I can continue to use it in Lightroom CC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, if you want to continue to sync your Lr Classic catalog to the cloud, then there's no way of preventing the contents of Lr Desktop (what you refer to a Lightroom CC) being downloaded to Lr Classic. The behaviour you experience is as designed. It's all or nothing!
