Question

Lightroom Classic sync with mobile

Hi - I am a long time Lightroom user but I have not used Mobile on my iPad.  This summer I loaded Lightroom mobile and love it.  So much more capable than the native photo app and the AI object remove is amazing.  So much faster than on my (ancient) desktop.

Anyway, I have just returned from a trip and have 1,500 photos that I need to sync from the cloud to the desktop.  I think I have it all set up ok but Lightroom classic sync is 'stalled' showing it is syncing 1,071 photos (wnen I click the cloud icon).  I thought maybe it was just taking its time since there are some videos in there, but I left the computer on overnight and in the morning it still showed I have 1,071 photos syncing.  I have rebooted the computer and iPad multiple times but the cloud icon still shows it is syncing 1,071 photos.

The 'All synced photos' is showing zero.  I have been doing some reading and I think I need to do a reset.  I went to Preferences/LightRoom Sync and 'Delete all synched data' but got nervous it would delete the originals I have - which are all on the iPad.

What is the right way to fix this problem?

Hi @MerkurNJ! Thanks for reaching out, and I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying Lightroom Mobile!

It sounds like the sync might be stuck. From your desktop, could you try logging into Lightroom Web and check if there’s a “Sync Issues” folder? If you see one, you can follow the steps outlined here: https://adobe.ly/3J8iMFd

Let me know how it goes, happy to help with anything else!

Thanks so much for the reply @Aleke .  I am at my wits end here trying to get my photos synced.

checked Lightroom web access as suggested and there is no 'Sync Issues' folder.

I also tried:

- Pausing sync, face detection, address lookup and XMP saving on my desktop with the same results.

- I have updated Lightroom, but my graphics card doesn't meet the new minimum requirements of Lightroom so I cannot update to the latest.  Yes I need a new computer and I'm working on it!  The LRC version I am running is v14.0.1 with Camera Raw 17.0

- I deleted the Album I created on LR Mobile

- I then optimized the Lightroom catalog and re-enabled cloud sync. It displayed the 'synced' message

- I then created an album on LR mobile and added one photo.  On the desktop, under the Cloud  'Local Activity' it changed from 'Synched' to 'synching 1,072 photos'.  This is the original 1,071 +1.

- the album I created did not appear under 'From LR Mobile' collections

Suggestions?

Update on the above issue:

- Having optimized the catalog, I decided to back it up.  Something I have done 100s of times before.  I get the message that LR is preparing to backup and there it sits.  I left it overnight and in the morning, the screeen was the same and it hadn't backed up.

- I then decided to start a new catalog, which I did.  I tried importing one image and Lightroom hangs up.

Any ideas? What should I do next?
