I want to buy a new macbook.

So how does it work:I would like to install lightroom classic onto an external HD connected to a new macbook.

Is this possible,or is it better to install it on the new mac and photo's put on the external HD?

How much gig do I need to have on my mac?

kind regards

Lightroom Classic will work best if it is installed on the fastest drive in your system. This will usually be the internal drive, especially in the new M1/M2 Macs. Lightroom Classic will work fine with the photos on an external drive. You will need at least two external drives, one for backup of the photos. If you choose to have Lightroom Classic create Smart Previews, you will be able to do most editing operations on the images without having the external drive connected. Those Smart Previews take additional space on the internal drive where Lightroom Classic is installed so for future proofing, I recommend a 2TB internal SSD.

The application is always installed on your internal hard disk, but you can save both the catalog and the photos on an external disk, or only the photos on an external disk. That is your choice.
