Lightroom classic unusable keeps crashing

I'm trying to use lightroom classic 12.2.1 on a Macbook pro M1 16GB ram running Ventura 13.2.1

After a few minutes, the app uses up more than 20 GB of memary and crashes.

I've un-installed and re-installed the app several times with no effect. I've also optimised my Lightroom catalog, again with no effect. I'm also using Lightroom ( on my Macbook pro, i-pad and iphone) which seem to work fine. 

I'm getting seriously fed up with Adobe and the expensive mess with all the different apps.
