Question

Lightroom Classic will not open even with 64gm ram, sufficient space on c-drive

Lightroom Classic will not open unless I pull plug on computer and reconnect.  Even then, LR classic is very slow to open and use of crop tool and sliders are fidgety and sometimes unresponsive.

Photoshop does open easily.

Your title says that LrC “will not open”, but later you say “it opens slowly”. These are not the same. Which is it?

Please go to Help->System Info (if you can open LrC) and copy and paste the information there into your reply.

Fidgety sliders? See if this is the solution:

As far as I understand your problems, I would say that RAM and disk space are not possible causes.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

If this doesn't help, it's possible that your catalog has a fault. Restore the catalog from the recent backup and check: Disaster strikes - a corrupted catalog! | The Lightroom Queen

Alternatively, you can try creating a new catalog and import several images.

Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

Click on “Create a New Catalog” to create a new one and see if this catalog works. If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.
