Question

Lightroom classic will not open normally. In task manager it is listed in background applications.

I don't know what changed on my Windows 10 laptop, but lightroom classic is not working.  When I attempt to open it, nothing appears to happen.  But when I go to task manager, it is listed in background apps.  I have read some of the old posts (some from 2017, so I doubt they are applicable in 2024) and nothing is working.  Some of them talk about setting the priority but don't tell you where to find the option to do so.

I have uninstalled and re-installed several times and re-started computer.

This is so frustrating.  Any and all help is appreciated.

Windows 10, LR classic version 13.4.0.1.

What do you mean with "nothing works"? What did you try?

My suggestion: Reset the Preferences

Close LrC in background in Task Manager. Reset the preferences by holding down [SHIFT+ALT] while starting Lightroom. This brings up a dialog where you can select to reset the preferences.

What have you done to solve the issue? Your solution can be helpful for other users that have the same issue.

Thank you.

One of the solutions that was suggested to me worked, but I don't know which one because I stopped and started due to interruptions.  So the answer is there somewhere!  Good luck!
