Lightroom Classic won't open

Lightroom would not open a few days ago. I took the steps from the community  and it opened up but it could not find my files. All the pictures are gray.  I came back a few day later and it will not open again. I've tried the same steps woth no luck. When I try to reset preferences I don't get an opition to reset them. Maybe Im doing it wrong.  I did the new update in hopes that would help, but nothing. I really need to get back to editing pictures.

Hi @Mark267512653unf! 👋 Welcome to the community!

I totally get how frustrating this can be. Could you share a bit more about the issue you're facing? What version of Lightroom Classic are you using? What steps did you follow from the community? When the app doesn't open, do you see any error message? It might sound obvious, but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Thanks a lot!

I had version 13-3, I think, updated to the new version yesterday. I'm no computer expert. I uninstalled and reinstalled today. I have deleted a few things in LRC catalog v13-3 trying to fix things up so I've probably really screwed thing up.
I held down the alt + shift key and clicked the shortcut and that brought up the properties window, not the preference window.
I went to the task manager and ended the LR task and restarted the computer and tried again and LRC would not start.
I deleted the .loc .wal and .shm files.
At this point I'm having trouble getting the shortcut back on the screen. I have all my pics backed up and everything that's edited is in files and backed up. I'm willing to just start over again with the new version but I don't see that in the lightroom file.
Thanks for your patients.
