Lightroom crashes my computer

Hi,

My newly upgraded Lightroom CC Classic crashes my computer about one minute into each use: just searching in library.

Four times tonight.  How do I fix or prevent this ?   Why is it doing this ?

I have had problems in the past with Lightroom acting "flaky".   I primarily use it as an organizing tool for my archive,

not for editing.     Lightroom has a lot of great features for this and is easy to use, when it works. ... but the "flakiness"

it exhibits plus this current problem has me thinking that Lightroom is not consistent or robust enough for this purpose

and that I should look for other options.

Whenever it "upgrades" it seems to create more problems for me.  I wish the base program was more robust and consistent.

I understand Adobe's want and need to upgrade and add new features; but why should/does that have to interfere with those of

us who are using this program as a tool.  And a lot of us don't need the new features.

The program is running on a 1-1/2 year old Apple Retina 5K  27 inch iMac desktop using macOS Sierra 10.12.6

I just "upgraded" to the new Lightroom today.

Please help, I'm very frustrated.

Thanks in advance,

Don
