Lightroom crashes while importing from iPhone 8 to Lightroom Classic on MacOS Mojave

I am having an incredibly frustrating time trying to get photos to import to Lightroom Classic 9.1 from my iPhone 8, running iOS 13.3, on a Macbook Pro 2015 with Mojave. It either doesn't see any photos, sees them and then crashes, or when I'm lucky, will import a few hundred, very slowly, and then stall or crash.

 

I've got a lot of crash reports. What is going on? This is not what I was hoping from Adobe. I've been using Lightroom for years without issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I attached my crash reports - (1) is from a crash 12 minutes into importing, and (2) is a crash while just trying to see the photos on the phone via the import dialog.

I should say, I have about 20,000 photos and videos I'm trying to import, including some quite long 4K videos (20 min). I have had better luck getting a few photos to import when selecting just a subset of these. But still, it shouldn't have an issue.
