Question

Lightroom crashing after installing update yesterday

Hello,

I have had some problems with LR crashing recently. I noticed there was an update yesterday and in the hope that it may fix my problem I installed it. Since then I am totally unable to open LR. Every time I try to open it it goes straight to a crash report without LR opening at all. I have rebooted the computer several times with no benefit. I tried resetting preferences but that has not helped. So, I am totally unable to use LR since this update.

I have work that I need to get done so I'm hoping someone can offer a solution asap. I really want to avoid reinstalling LR unless there is absolutely no other option.

Thanks!

Some details would be helpful to assist any answers.

Your previous version number?

You are upgrading or updating to which version number?

Your OS version?

What do you see in your Creative Cloud Desktop App?

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

Hi WobertC,

thanks

I always keep my LR up to date but I'm not sure off the top of my head what the version numbers are (and since I can't open LR I can't check) I guess the version number I have upgraded to would have to be whatever the latest release is as I was only notified of it yesterday and upgraded straight away.

I'm using Windows 10 and it should be currently up to date with any updates

The Creative Cloud Desktop App isn't telling me much as far as I can see - it is not indicating any further updates available (as would be expected if it just updated yesterday).  When I click on 'Open' for Lightroom Classic CC it just comes up with the crash report straight away. Is there any more information I can get from the App?

The Desktop App should show "Up to Date" if you check from the 3-dot menu.

I suspect you may have to Un-install and re-install.

Click the drop-down menu on the [Open] button for un-install.

Again- click the menu for "Other Versions" when re-installing.

And what Creative Cloud plan do you subscribe to?
