Basically I start lightroom classic (8.1)  I cant even import photos and it crashes. Ive uninstalled all programs and CC and reinstalled them all. Im running the latest drivers and still no luck. Its frustrating as I use this for 80-90% of my editing.

Still broken?

Based on a recent discussion, a lesson learned, a new question to ask.

When you installed the software, what did you install, and in what order?

Specifically, did you install the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application first? Then installed the rest via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application?

To get better responses from the other members of this forum, please be advised to create your own discussion

Give it a nice descriptive title like LR Classic CC v8.1 Crashes for no reason.

In the body of the discussion describe your problem, describe when it occurs, describe what you were doing in LR when it occurred.

Also, any screenshots of what you were doing

any screen shot of any error message

And to get ahead of the curve, as several of the members will ask. In Lightroom, click on Help, click on System Information, click on Copy. Paste results into your reply.

If this just started, you were using LR 8 or 8.1 prior without problems, then it is a Hardware fault. Something has changed, gone bad, with the hardware in your system.

Have you tried to deactivate the GPU support?

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ

When you get in touch with Adobe, several things they may try. You of course may want to know.

login to your computer as the local administrator. See if LR works.

create a new computer user acoount, login as that user, see if LR works.

And I should have inquired, have you tried bringing up the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app, sign out, the sign in? That is actually a step that occasionally fixes odd start behavor.

Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen

And was this an upgrade? Does installing the older version work?
