Lightroom denoise has gone terribly slow - Why?

Nothing has changed on my desktop. When I got it new last summer, processing was seconds. All updates applied. However, when I use the built-in denoise in Lightroom or a DXO plug-in, it is now taking over 5 minutes per picture. Why - has enhanced built-in AI stuff slowed it down? or is it a bug? Driving me nuts as I often have high ISO wildlife shots, and this is making the experience a real chore. Any suggestions of what has gone wrong? Bags of space on the computer and memory.

    @Jayne Aberdeen DirectX: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (32.0.21030.2001)

That indicates you have an integrated GPU, and it’s driver is 10 months old. Update to the latest graphics driver directly from AMD:

is this what you need to know?

Init State: GPU for Display supported by default with image processing and export supported in the custom mode

@Jayne Aberdeen Updated but got 207 windows error message.

Problems with Denoise are usually caused by problmes with older graphics drivers.

According to Google AI, the 207 error is caused by Windows Update trying to install an older driver (a not uncommon problem with Windows Update). You could try the Google AI recommendations, which look plausible to me (but you know AI):

The AMD Error 207 means the software installed successfully, but Windows Device Manager flagged a potential issue with your graphics device. To fix this, perform a clean driver installation by using the AMD Cleanup Utility to remove corrupted files, then reinstall the latest drivers. [1, 2, 3]

    Step-by-Step Resolution

    1. Download the tools: Get the latest official driver from the AMD Support page. You will also need the AMD Cleanup Utility. [1]
    2. Uninstall existing drivers:
      • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & Features), locate the AMD Software, and click Uninstall.
      • Run the AMD Cleanup Utility to ensure all leftover registry entries and conflicting files are completely wiped. [1, 2, 3]
    3. Reinstall: Run the newly downloaded AMD installer. If given the option, select Factory Reset to perform a clean install of the package. [1, 2]
    4. Driver Signature Enforcement (If Error 207 persists): Some users on Microsoft Learn resolve this by restarting Windows in the Advanced Startup menu (holding Shift while clicking Restart), navigating to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings, restarting again, and pressing F7 to disable driver signature enforcement before installing. It seems that your text file was truncated. It does not tell us what GPU Make and Model you have installed. Could you please tell us? Also please tell us the version number of the GPU driver.

Also, in that text file I see:

    Library Path: C:\Users\jayne\OneDrive\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat

While this may or may not have anything to do with the problem you described, Lightroom catalog files should NOT be stored in folders synched to OneDrive or other cloud sharing folders. Catalog file and cloud sharing do not play well together and I strongly recommend you move your catalog file (and associated lrcat-data folder) to somewhere else. So perhaps that’s the first thing you should do and see if the problem goes away.

Please make clear what software you are using. Is it Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon) or something else? Also please tell us the version NUMBER. Please also tell us your operating system and version NUMBER. We do not want words like “all updates applied”, we need version NUMBERs.

Please go into your Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, and perform the menu command Help->System Information. Please copy and paste the results into your reply.
