lightroom does not select photos in the filmstrip when selected in the grid

Since the April 2018 update of Lightroom Classic, when I select multiple photos to remove from disk, they get highlighted in the grid view, but only one photo gets highlighted in the filmstrip, and it may not be one I want to remove. The result is deletion of photos that I want to keep.

Have you rebooted your computer lately? Perhaps shutting down all apps, restarting your computer and then opening Lightroom the problem will go away. I'm unable to recreate the problem.

Sorry that the images in Lightroom Classic CC are not getting highlighted in the filmstrip grid mode when you attempt to delete them.

Could you please show us screenshot of what you're referring to since I tried reproducing the same at my end but it seems to be working fine?

Also, mention the exact version of Lightroom you're using.

This happens randomly, and the biggest problem is that if I selected a single photo to edit, performed some edits, then selected others to delete, there is a very high probability that the original one I selected to edit will get deleted because while it is not selected in the grid, it stays selected in the filmstrip below. It is release 7.3.1 with camera raw 10.3.

If I close and restart LR the problem MIGHT go away, but there is no guarantee that a new session will solve it. Plus that is VERY inconvenient for a product like Lightroom. I think the real issue is why new releases of LR (which I think is stable), continue to introduce new bugs.

Mike, try resetting LR's preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/ . That often fixes things when LR's user interface starts going wonky. In particular, I recall a couple months ago it addressing the same symptoms you've experienced. (It's not a sure thing, but it takes a minute and can be undone.)
