Question

Lightroom eats up all memory

I have a 27 5k iMac with 32gb RAM. LR 2015.8 (CC license). Yosemite.

My LR catalog is around 2.5gb. The files are stored on an external thunderbolt bay with few terabytes of available space.

When I start Lightroom, it starts eating up memory up to the moment that it brings the computer to its knees.

Please note this is happening without me doing anything, I just start Lightroom, without any module switch or action, it will just eat up all the memory, this takes few minutes to eat up the 32gb.

I have purged the caches, optimised the catalog, no difference.

I have reinstalled LR, no difference.

Any idea? This started to happen all of a sudden. I am totally blocked and cannot work anymore...

    @Katie De Forest

    I recommend that you start a new thread and describe your specific issue. You should also include your 'System Info', which can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.

    ok this is really linked to 2015.8

    I reinstalled CC 2015 version without patching and it behaves normally.

    Unfortunately for me i need a new version to be able to work on files from newer cameras...

    Now my question: is somebody from support actually looking into those posts or is is simply impossible to have help and i have to deal with a software that i paid for that does not work? I have spent 2 days trying all sorts of different things to try to fix this issue...

    Any help appreciated...many thanks

    Looks like lightroom is also reading a lot from the disk...is it trying to store my entire library in RAM???

    Post a screen shot of the activity monitor with the memory section displayed.
