Question

Lightroom hangs up at every click

I am having the worst time battling with Lightroom Classic. It takes so long between commands that my screen goes black for a second - the top toolbar says "Not responding" - the command finishes processing and I have to go through the same thing at every stroke of my wacom pen.

I have an i7 processor, with 16gm RAM (windows)

I had this problem before the latest update and I had to uninstall/reinstall the software and only then did it work fine. This was about 7 months ago now.

I have no issues doing this again to see if that fixes whatever the slow down is - but surely that is not the long term solution?

I wonder if this is just me - or if this is a known issue?

5. Camera RAW CACHE

As your issues are in develop, how much space are you allowing Lightroom Classic to use for Camera RAW CACHE?

4. If this is a desktop computer, check for dust bunny's around GPU, around CPU cooling fan, and at all inlet and outlet fans.

If this is a laptop, are the fans over tasking? Are the fan inlets free of dust.

3. By %, how much space remains for use on the hard drive your catalog is on?

2. Please post your system information as Lightroom Classic reports it. In LRC click on Help. then System Info, then Copy. PASTE into a reply.

1. Try turning off use GPU in preferences/performance

Also, running display at 4K? As you are running Windows, and as such can actually truly decrease monitor resolution, try that.

Details, please.

What version NUMBER of Lightroom Classic? What operating system VERSION number? (We need the version NUMBER and not words like "up-to-date" or "latest")

Which i7 processor?

Where in Lightroom Classic does this happen? Library Module? Develop Module? Other?

Are some things slow and some not so slow? If so please be very specific about what is slow and what is not slow.

Lightroom version 9.1

Windows OS Version: 1903, Build: 18362.592

i7 Processor: i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

The hangups are happening in the develop module. Most noticeable when I am trying to mask or (god forbid) try to edit the mask.

Moving the sliders are a little slow to react, but I assume this is a response to using a wacom pen? Using a mouse to move the sliders is a little more receptive than the pen. This issue, is nothing though, compared to the inability to edit anything.

If I leave LR for a moment, come back and do something, it will do it well for the first couple of commands before it starts to get hung back up.
