"Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo"

This is happening constantly lately, both with files on external disks, and the internal SSD. I'm not sure yet, but I suspect it may be happening when I sync-settings or copy/paste settings with subject and/or background masks. I'll sync the settings across 10 photos or so, and a couple of them might get that ! mark on it, and I have to reboot LR to clear it.

Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo

This is usually a hardware malfunction of some sort. While the first suspect is always the hard disk, you say this happens with several hard disks, so the next suspect would be the computer memory and even the motherboard.

I don't think that's what's going on here. Just a hunch, because it seems to be specific to this workflow, and my computer isn't exhibiting any problems elsewhere.

I wouldn't agree with that logic, just because it is not happening elsewhere does not rule out memory or motherboard issues.

Anyway other people have recently reported similar issues, they are getting the "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo". I suggest you search for threads on this.

This is really irritating, because I can't Export the files without rebooting now, and closing and reooting takes time, when I have to do it many times a day. Until the bug is fixed, is there any way to clear these marks without rebooting?
