LIghtroom has lost files while moving to another folder

Hi,

Hoping for a more up-to-date solution for this as Adobe have known about this issue for a long time. 🙂

Was following the instructions as provided by Adobe to move files between folders within Lightroom Classic.  Some of the NEFs are coming up as file missing.  Can't find them in either the source or destination folder.  Have searched the whole drive but nothing coming up.  I haven't deleted.  Though I have looked in the recycle bin just in case. On Windows 11.

Would appreciate Adobe coming back to me on this.  Afterall, why do we pay our monthly subscription? Where are and how can I recover them?

Thanks.

Hello @derekm7580361,
That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially when you’ve followed Adobe’s own steps. If the NEFs aren’t in either folder or the recycle bin, it’s worth checking Lightroom’s catalog for missing links or using recovery tools like MyRecover or Disk Drill to scan your drive before anything gets overwritten. Adobe really should address this more proactively.

You can restore the photos from their backups.

I can't speak for Adobe, but you would be wise not to move large amounts of files in the LrC interface. Instead, many people recommend that you do this via your operating system, and then reconnect the files in LrC. See "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location" at http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
