Lightroom Import Dialog Does Not Show When Inserting Memory Card

This problem has been reported before, but I have not been able to find a solution yet. Does anyone know why the Import dialog does not open when a memory card is inserted, and Lightroom is already open? The card is recognized, and clicking on Import shows the contents of the card and allows for the normal Import process to take place. But, the expected behavior is that inserting the card should open the Import dialog, and it does not do that.

Interestingly, inserting the card while Lightroom is not running causes Lightroom to launch (but the Import dialog does not open). I believe this is the expected behavior in this case.

Some details:

Lightroom CC 2015.7

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)

macOS Sierra 10.12.1

Memory: 24 GB

"Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" is checked in Preferences.

"Use Graphics Processor" is not checked in Preferences.

In the Operating System, Image Capture is set to launch Lightroom when the card is inserted.

Thanks,

Rafael Aviles

Open Lightroom Preferences, found under Lightroom at the top of the screen on the Mac and under the Edit menu on the PC.  In the General section, go to the "Import Options".  Make sure there is a checkmark in the box in front of the text "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected."

Thanks. That feature was not working for many people. with the 7.1 update, it is now working without any setting changes

Please can you suggest how to fix this? I have LR Classic 6 and 9 running on the same Mac. Inserting a SD card can open LR6 and the import dialog just fine.  Inserting a SD card with LR9 only opens the application but the import dialog does not start.  the settings are correct in the preferences and I have tried disabling and enabling this function.

    Any ideas?

It’s working for me now with LR Classic 7.1 as of December 12, 2017

This stopped working for me with the Sierra update. I now always have to manually open the import dialog. This seems to be something that Apple broke but I have no real data to confirm that.

Still not resolved Nov. 2017 with new "Lightroom Classic".

It now works for me, I just tested it. Lightroom Classic CC 7.0.1 Release, MacOS 10.13.1 (High Sierra).

This is what happens: If LR is running when the card is inserted, it opens the Import dialog. If LR is not running when the card is inserted, it launches LR, but the Import dialog is not invoked.

Launching LR when the card is inserted needs to be set up in the Image Capture settings.

    I hope this helps.
