Lightroom Import not loading

Question

I have been struggling with this issue for about a month. When I am trying to import photos to Lightroom, the previews won't load for about 3 hours. I have tried importing them from the SD card as well as from my passport external hard drive. I have cleared out my hard drive on my Mac because I thought maybe it was too full, and got a brand new external hard drive. Any ideas as to what the issue could be?

Hey. @emma_4977. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. We're here to help. Has this error started to appear since a recent upgrade for Lightroom Classic, or the macOS?

Is the USB drive connected to the Mac via a USB hub? You can follow the steps here to add permissions to folders on macOS: https://adobe.ly/4f3oRwg
