Question

Lightroom insists my cloud storage is getting full, 99%,

Hi all.

I need some basic support regarding support for Adobe Lightroom Classic. I’ve been using the software to 10+ years, have about 500K of images.

During these years it has been (very seldom) necessary to contact Adobe for support. When done so, I have been supported over phone, shared sessions etc.

I now have a more severe problem. Lightroom insists my cloud storage is getting full, 99%, 19GB of 20GB. I have taken away several thousands of images, but the number is still climbing. I see no effect of my deletions.

That said as a background. My main question is: is it no longer possible to contact the Adobe directly, as in the old days, and raise a ticket? I cannot see that possibility.

However, since I seldom have problems, I might well be missing something.

Any suggestions for me to proceed to solve my issue would be very welcome.

Thanks!

best regards Hans Andersson

    Here are the likely causes:

    1. Videos synced from the mobile/web environment: Check your account at lightroom.adobe.com to review and remove these. Classic does not fully sync (or unsync) videos.
(This is a good place to look for items you think are not synced but are!)
    2. Go to Express.adobe.com and see if you have any projects consuming space
    3. Profiles and Presets consume storage space. If you’ve synced massive numbers of profiles and/or presets, it will have an impact on your 20 GB.

One way to contact Adobe is to submit a bug report in this forum. Please make sure you read both of these discussions. If the problem meets your definition of a bug, that may not be good enough, it has to meet Adobe’s definition of a bug.

As far as your second point, files synched to the Adobe Cloud via a collection in Lightroom Classic do not count towards your storage limit in the cloud.

Do not post a bug report about this issue in this forum! This is not a Lightroom Classic issue (the cloud storage is part of the Lightroom ecosystem), and almost certainly also not a bug, but simply a matter of understanding how the cloud storage works.

It’s still possible to contact Adobe by phone. Or through this forum. Lightroom Classic does not use cloud storage to sync photos to the cloud; it syncs smart previews and these are not counted in your allocation. If Lightroom says your cloud storage is getting full, then that must be photos taken with your smartphone, or photos imported through Lightroom desktop or through a mobile device.

If you delete photos in Lightroom desktop or Lightroom mobile, then they are moved to an online trash location where they stay for a certain period (I believe for one month). That is why you do not see an immediate effect of deletions. You can manually delete that online trash. You can also remove these photos from ‘All Synced Photographs’ in Lightroom Classic. That will also delete them from the cloud. In both cases they’ll stay in Lightroom Classic locally.

Johan, warm thanks for a quick and informative reply.

Sorry to say though, it created two new questions :-)

    1. I have not succeed in finding contact details. could you just refer to where I can find phone, mail, etc?
    2. You said “lightroom Classic does not use cloud storage to sync photos to the cloud; it syncs smart previews and these are not counted in your allocation.“ But I assume that when I create a collection, and share it and make it downloadable, it adds to my usage of my 230 GB?

    Thanks again!

a: I think you should be able to find contact details on your local Adobe website. As I’m most likely not located in the same country as you are, you’ll have to find that number for yourself.

b: No. Like I said, the smart previews that Lightroom Classic syncs up to the cloud are not counted in your 20GB. Sharing them and making them downloadable does not change that.
