Lightroom Install Location

I am setting up a new PC with the operating system on one SSD drive. Then I have 2 additional SSD drives. So 3 total. I was contemplating using drive number 2  to install Lightroom Classic and drive number 3 for storage (photos, data, etc ). I was reading that installing Photoshop and Lightroom on a drive other than the operating system can complicate things and maybe cause problems. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thank you.

I am not aware of any complications from installing Lightroom Classic on a different drive than the operating systems. What exactly did you read?

Anyway, Windows has always allowed installations of software on a different drive than the OS. This is a feature of Windows, and it has been there for a very long time and it has worked for me and for lots of other people with lots of different software. So its hard to see why Lightroom Classic would be different.

Thank you. I can't recall now where I read it but it concerned me enough to inquire. I appreciate the feedback!

I've Lightroom and Photoshop installed on two machines runniong on Windows.

On one machine I've installed LR/PS on the same drive as the operationg system (drive C). On the other I've install it on drive D (a seperate drive).  On both machines I don't have any problems.

So I think you can install it as you want / as you need it. But one point you should remember: even if you install LR/PS on a separate drive, parts will also be installed on drive C.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI
