Question

Lightroom jumps back up after rating multiple images

When reviewing my photos for editing I select multiple images and rate them with stars (1, 2, 3, etc.) but after I rate multiple images at the same time Lightroom jumps back up. It’s very annoying because then I have to go back down and continue reviewing. Can you fix it, please?

When you select multiple images, there is one image that is called the ‘active’ image (some people refer to it as the ‘most selected image’). I believe that after you apply something to that selection, Lightroom jumps to this active image. So if you want to continue at the end of the selection, then make the last image of the selection the active one, before you apply something to the selection.

That’s not a solution. That’s like asking someone to read backwards from the last page to the first.

It’s a workaround. If you don’t want to use it, then that’s fine with me.

Are you using Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? What version NUMBER?

I’m using Lightroom Classic, latest version 15.1.1

I do not experience anything similar to what you described after rating files in my LrC 15.1.1. It could be you have the wrong sort order selected, try setting the sort order to capture time.

It could also be, as stated by @AxelMatt, that you need to reset your preference file.

Reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html
