Lightroom keeps crashing when trying to do Import, just when I am short on time so I cannot post some photos! I have the latest version on a Windows 10 computer. I need to get this fixed soon! LR can be vert frustrating to use and Support has been lacking.

I SOLVED IT!!!

I tried all sorts of things, from formating the computer for a clean windows and adobe apps install to unchecking boxes at preferences, NOTHING WORKS? IT STILL WONT IMPORT AND CRASH?  Well, the solution is pretty stupid. Just UNPLUG USB devices but your mouse and keyboard and boom, it works again.

TL,DR:   UNPLUG ALL USB DEVICES WHILE IMPORTING

Here is the System info: (When I go to Plugins, it only shows one, but below, it shows more for some reasom.)

When you go to Plugin Manager?

hmm, perhaps see, as example: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic/plugins-for-lightroom-not-showing-up/td-p/9484999?page=1

Side note, from your Sys Info

Displays: 1) 1920x1200

So sub 4K, no actual advantage to turning on "Use Graphics Processor" in /preferences/performance/

Mind you, I suspect you cannot.

In older GPU's, when not 4K, turning that on can cause problems.

From your Sys Info

Graphics Processor Info:

No Dedicated GPU listed, nor an Integrated Video controler when lacking a GPU (tyically NVIDIA or AMD). A bit bothersome.

But not uncommon on low end Laptops.

So, your computer, Desktop or Laptop?

And what make/model?

Does it actually have a GPU?

And lacking a GPU, what Video controller (all computers have one, likely Intel)

Support

This community site is for Adobe customers to share info, problems, solutions, etc. It is not primarily for support via Adobe. Very few if any actual Adobe Techs, Adobe support visit this site.

To actually get attention from Adobe, post at the official Feedback site:

Repeating:

Is it just Lightroom Classic that crashes, but the rest of the computer runs fine? Or does the entire computer crash and have to be restarted?

Can you try disabling your plug-ins to see if that helps? Can you turn off the Graphics Processor and see if that helps?

Support,

As I mentioned, Lightroom (LR) crashes.

There is only one plugin enabled and it is AdobeStock.lrplugin. It would be surprising if suddenly an Adobe plugin caused LR to crash upon doing an Import. I took the time anyway to disable it and try Importing again and LR crashed.

The version of LR is 10.0—Build 202010011851-ef6045e0. (It would be very nice if Adobe would allow the Build info to be copied and pasted.)

The Windows version is 20H2 (OS Build 19042.630).

When in Library module, and you click on Import, does the import screen come up, or does LrC crash then?

If after, then in the Import screen, does LrC crash before, or after/when you click Import?

When I click on Import, Lightroom crashes (becomes unresponsive) and stays unresponse until closed. The Import sceeen does not appear.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.
