Question

Lightroom makes me select "Edit in photoshop" twice

Often when I am trying to move a picture from Lightroom into Photoshop, selecting "edit in photoshop" does not work.  If I then select it a second time, it opens in Photoshop as expected.  Pretty annoying.

It has been doing this for a while over several versions of LR and Photoshop, but currently I have:

Lightroom Classic 14.5.1

Photoshop 26.10

MacBook Air, Sequoia 15.6

Thanks!

Hi @bsomberg,

Sorry for the delayed response. I’ve seen this behavior before, and it often happens when a third-party app or background process interferes with the handoff between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. It also appears to be more common on macOS.

A few things you can try:
 • Make sure macOS and both apps are updated to the very latest builds (Lightroom Classic 14.5.1 and Photoshop 26.10 are current, but also check for macOS updates).
 • Restart your Mac in Safe Mode and test the same workflow (Edit in Photoshop) to see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t, then a third-party process or utility running in normal mode is likely interfering.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,
